A Western Disturbance has approached the hills of North India today and is expected to give rains over some parts of the hills and snow over the higher reaches. This system is expected to be of short duration.
Today, the system has approached the Western Himalayan region and will result in rainfall in the mid reaches and snow in the higher reaches. Tomorrow, its effect will be at its peak, covering most areas under its wings. The system will thereafter be on a receding note day after tomorrow.
The weather activity will remain confined to the hills, affecting the least in Uttarakhand and maximum at Jammu and Kashmir. Rains will be seen up to Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Manali, Shimla, Mussoorie, Nainital etc. Snowfall will be seen over the higher reaches only and mid and lower reaches will not see snow at all.
As far as the foothills of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are concerned, they may not see significant weather, not even in terms of rainfall activity. After the passage of this system, the hills are expected to take a break and rains will not be seen due to the absence of a weather system.
