Western Disturbance keeps fog at bay in North India, rain likely in Delhi

February 2, 2015 8:16 AM |

delhi foggyA clear weather, free of fog, was observed in most parts of the country on Monday morning. The national capital Delhi, recorded visibility at 800 meters at the Palam airport at 7 am. The weather in the city has been clear for the last 4-5 days with sun coming out quite early. But with fresh snowfall in the hills and a Western Disturbance affecting the region, we can expect clouding and light rain today.

In view of the system, fog will be absent from most of the places, particularly in North India for at least another 2-3 days. Punjab, which is close to the foothills also observed a fairly clear weather today with visibility settling at 1500 meters in Amritsar.

In East India too, the visibility was fairly good except for Gorakhpur where dense fog was observed and the visibility had dropped to 200 meters. Other places in the region like Patna recorded visibility at 500 meters. Allahabad saw the visibility settle at 1000 meters. This clearly explains that most parts of the country have been observing a fog free morning.

Air and rail traffic was also smooth today with only 3 flights reported to be delayed in departure from the Palam airport in Delhi.  About 14 trains were delayed today, with Brahmaputra mail running late by 11 hours, Himgiri express running late by 8 hours, Amritsar Howrah mail by 9 hours, Amritsar Horaw express by 9 hours and Kamproop express by 2 hours.
