Since last 4 to 5 days, southern parts of Kerala have been witnessing rains of reduced intensity. This reduction can be attributed to the cyclonic circulation, which is over East Central Arabian Sea off the Karnataka coast. While rains have reduced over southern Kerala, good showers are being observed over Coastal Karnataka, Konkan and Goa and South Madhya Maharashtra.
During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Vaikom in Kottayam recorded 80 mm of rain followed by Piravom in Ernakulum where 64.8 mm rainfall was received. Other areas to have received rains include Mancompu in Alappuzha 56.6 mm, Taliparamba in Kannur 50.2 mm, Mysuru 21 mm, Mangalore 13 mm, and Agumbe 10.8 mm.
Now, this weather system will move towards the west. Also, a trough is expected to form from Rayalaseema to Kerala and rain intensity will once again increase over entire Kerala. By June 7 and 8, entire West Coast right from Kerala to Konkan and Goa will witness rain activity.
Parts of Madhya Maharashtra including Pune, Raigarh, Sindhudurg, Kolhapur, Sangli, Ahmednagar and Satara will start receiving good rains during the next 2 to 3 days. Temperatures will remain under check over these areas.
