Monsoon 2016 is getting extreme and vigorous with each passing day. Till now Monsoon has covered many parts of Peninsular India along with Central and East India. It has also covered a few parts of Madhya Pradesh, Central and Eastern Uttar Pradesh and the hills of North India.
Keeping the dynamic intensity of Monsoon rainfall in mind, there are places in the country that recorded more than 100 mm of rainfall. In a span of 24 hours, from 8:30 am on Thursday, Harnai in Maharashtra recorded massive 361.6 mm of rainfall, while Cooch Behar in West Bengal recorded 153 mm. Bagdogra in sub-Himalayan West Bengal received about 110 mm of rain, whereas Agumbe, Karnataka received 101.6 mm.
Till now, during the month of June, Cherrapunji in Meghalaya has recorded 2511.7 mm, followed by Cooch Behar in West Bengal where 679.4 mm of rain has been received. Other parts of the region also received heavy rains but missed the 100 mm mark.
In the coming days, the Monsoon rains are expected to become even more vigorous. By the end of June, the intensity of rain is expected to pick up more pace over West Coast and sub-Himalayan regions.
