After a break, rains are set to make a comeback over West Bengal. A Depression is seen over central Bay of Bengal which will eventually intensify into a Deep Depression during the next 24 hours. Not only this, it would gain more strength and intensify into a Cyclonic Storm, titled, Titli. This weather system is seen heading in northwest direction towards Odisha.

Due to the northwest movement of this weather system, scattered rains are expected to start in parts of Gangetic West Bengal by the evening of October 9. As per Skymet Weather, by October 10, we can expect heavy to very heavy rains in Gangetic West Bengal including Kolkata.

October 10 would be marked as the first day of Durga Puja celebrations. However, there are little chances of the celebrations getting disturbed as this is a fast-moving weather system. The system is likely to vacate the region by October 12, leaving behind light rains on that day.

This tells us that no such obstacle is foreseen during Durga Puja celebrations. People can continue with their festivities but, yes, it is always better to take precautions beforehand.

By October 13, this rain belt will move towards the northeastern states of the country and rains will further reduce over West Bengal. However, isolated light rains will continue, but clear weather is expected by October 14.
