Under favorable oceanic conditions, low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal (BoB) has become well marked over the same region.  Well marked low is associated with cyclonic circulation extending up to medium levels of atmosphere. Weather system over northwest and west central BoB and neighboring parts of coastal Odisha may intensify further in to a depression in the next 24 hours.

Maiden system of August is expected to meander over BoB and coastline of Odisha and West Bengal for the next 2 days. Fairly widespread and intense weather activity is likely over Odisha and southern parts of Gangetic West Bengal. There is another cyclonic circulation over Northeast Arabian Sea and adjoining region of Gujarat. An east-west oriented axis joining the above 2 systems is creating a shear line running across Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and Gujarat.

Fairly widespread rain and thundershowers are expected over these states for the next 72 hours.  The peripherals of the shearline will reach Madhya Pradesh, Telangana and North Interior Karnataka. These pockets are likely to have moderate showers at most places and heavy stormy activity at few places. Heavy to very heavy rainfall belt will shift to Gujarat and Konkan after 48hr. Localized flooding and disruption of essential services is quite likely.  North Konkan, South Gujarat and Saurashtra & Kutch will be vulnerable to snapping of communication and connectivity.  Utmost caution need to be exercised till 11th August.  Short breather for about 3 days and the region will have to prepare for another wave of copious rains.
