Updated on June 19, 2015, 8:00 PM (IST): Well marked low pressure area in Bay of Bengal to intensify into depression

The well marked low pressure area over  Westcentral and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal has come very close to the coastal areas of Odisha and adjoining Andhra Pradesh region. As the system is in close proximity to the land, it will not gain much strength. However, the system could possibly become a depression and move inland during next 24 hours.

Andhra Pradesh and Odisha will receive heavy Monsoon rain on Saturday. After moving inland, the system will give more showers to areas lying to the west and southwest of it. The rain belt will cover more parts of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha and East Madhya Pradesh. Thereafter, the system will show a tendency to recurve and move in the northeast direction.

This weather system will be instrumental in the advance of Southwest Monsoon over most parts of East India within next 2 to 3 days. Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and even eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh could receive Monsoon showers by then. Rain will pick up in Northeast India as soon as the system crosses the coast and moves inland.

The Northern Limit of Monsoon should have covered most parts of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh by now. Southwest Monsoon should have also covered entire Chhattisgarh, Odisha, West Bengal, Bihar and east Uttar Pradesh.
