Well-marked low pressure area forms in Bay, heavy rains in Andhra, North TN, Odisha

Low pressure are in Bay of Bengal

The low pressure area persisting over Southwest Bay of Bengal has intensified further into a well-marked low pressure area over the region. However, we need to wait and watch whether it will further intensify or not.

Weathermen are of view that as the weather system is running close to the coast, chances of further intensification are less but not completely ruled out.

According to Skymet Weather, the system will now gradually move in north-north east direction along the East Coast of the country.

During this, process the system is likely to revive rains over North Coastal Tamil Nadu including Chennai and Andhra Pradesh during the next few days. Meanwhile, the system will mark the return of rain of parts of Odisha and West Bengal. Kolkata will also good spell of rains in the process

In fact, few areas of North Coastal Tamil Nadu have already recorded some heavy spells in view of this system. In span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Nungambakkam Observatory in Chennai has recorded 66 mm of rains, while Minambakkam Observatory saw 26 mm of rains.

Further also, weathermen are expecting moderate to heavy rains may occur over North Coastal Tamil Nadu and South Coastal Andhra Pradesh during the next 24 hours. Thereafter, as the system tracks along the coast, the intensity of rains will increase over rest coastal parts of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha as well as over Gangetic West Bengal. Intensity of rains will be heavy to very heavy over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Odisha by November 14.

However, West Bengal will get light to moderate showers. We can also expect thunderstorm along with lightning over few places. Meanwhile, after November 15, intensity of rains will reduce significantly over Tamil Nadu and Chennai.

By November 16, rains will start reducing over Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. But scattered light to moderate rains will continue over these areas as well as over some parts of Gangetic West Bengal till November 17.
