The well marked low pressure area over Bay of Bengal has moved further westwards and is now seen over Southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Tamil Nadu coast. The system has been moving at a very slow pace.
According to Skymet Weather, proximity of the coast has been restricting both the movement and enhancement of the system. Even then, the system has the potential of gaining more strength and intensifying into depression during the next 12 hours. But if that happens it would be for a short duration.
The well marked low pressure area is showing promising signs of giving some good rains deep inside Tamil Nadu. This time, intensity would be more over interior and northern parts of the state, while southern might see less rains as compared to the other two regions.

Weathermen predict moderate to heavy rains for the Interior and North Tamil Nadu for the next two days. Rains would start receding by November 23 as the system moves away as well as weaken.
The system holds great relevance for the state, as both Interior and North Tamil Nadu have been staring at high deficiency. North Tamil Nadu has been the most deficit pocket of the state, particularly places like Chennai, Dharmapuri and Vellore are rain deficient by over 60% during the ongoing Northeast Monsoon.
