The weather over northern parts of the country has been erratic. The recent flooding in the Kashmir valley and the unfortunate avalanche in the higher reaches of the state has put the entire region in the back seat. Thanks to Indian Army and their commendable effort, the state is coming back to order.
Even weather gods are in sync with Indian Army and easing the weather conditions over the region. The remnants of passing Western Disturbance gave rain and snow at many places over northern parts of Jammu and Kashmir. Particularly hilly region received hefty dose of snowfall which resulted in avalanche. This avalanche claimed lives of three Indian soldiers. Even, the floods disrupted the daily life quite a bit.
Such extreme weather in this time of the year is very unusual for the region. Srinagar recorded a whopping 83 mm of rain which is the highest ever during the month of April on April 6.
But this passing Western Disturbance may be the last strong spell over the region. In the span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Saturday, Gulmarg received 16 mm of rain and snow.
Now, the weather is expected to go dry for next 2-3 days. Another Western Disturbance is expected to hit the region around April 13. But this Western Disturbance will not be as strong the passing one. This fresh Western Disturbance will provide with scattered light to moderate rain and snow over the region and the heavy snowfall will not be seen.
