Day temperatures which were soaring much above normal in several parts of West, Central and North India, will now come down. Gujarat, parts of Rajasthan and few places in Madhya Pradesh will still witness day temperatures settling in lower-forties. However, maximums have come down to higher-thirties in Delhi and adjoining areas.
Weather in North India
Though temperatures have come down, humidity levels will rise over Northern parts. This change of weather could be attributed to moisture laden easterly winds blowing over the region. Consequently, discomfort level could rise, particularly during the afternoon hours.
Here we can also see a cyclonic circulation and an induced trough extending up to northern parts of Karnataka. This weather system coupled with high humidity and temperatures could trigger thunderstorm activity in few pockets of North India.
A fresh Western Disturbance is also approaching and will start affecting weather in North India from April 27 onwards. Rain will commence in Jammu and Kashmir and trickle down to Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand by April 28 and continue for 24 hours. Widespread rain in the hills could affect the Char Dham Yatra but people in the plains could get some relief.
Weather in East India
The cyclonic circulation over Bihar will continue to bring rain over East India but with reduced intensity. In last 24 hours, sub-Himalayan West Bengal received good showers. Cooch Behar and Jalpaiguri received heavy rains and recorded 50.2 mm and 44.6 mm, respectively.
Weather in South India
In South India, the easterly wave and wind discontinuity will continue to bring scattered rain over Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. In a span of 24 hours from 8.30 am on Friday, several places in Karnataka received good showers. Bangalore recorded 36 mm of rain, Hassan 17.6 mm and Mysore 36.4 mm.
In Kerala, Kottayam received 27.8 mm, Kozhikode 12.7 mm and Punalur 62.6 mm of rain.
