The weather system over the country:
The well-marked low-pressure area is now over West Central and adjoining Southwest Bay of Bengal. The associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 5.8 km above mean sea level. It is likely to continue to move in north direction and concentrate into a depression over West Central Bay of Bengal by this evening December 20. thereafter it will move in North Northwest direction and maintain its intensity as a depression for the subsequent 24 hours.
The Western disturbance is seen as a trough in lower and middle tropospheric westerly winds with its axis at 5.8 km above mean sea level running roughly along a longitude 17 degrees east to the north of latitude 25° north.
The induced cyclonic circulation is over Northwest Rajasthan.
Another cyclonic circulation is over the Northeast Bangladesh.
Fresh Western disturbance is expected to approach Western Himalayan region and adjoining plains from December 27.

During the last 24 hours, light to moderate rain with a few heavy spells occurred over coastal Andhra Pradesh.
Light to moderate rain occurred over coastal Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema and South Telangana.
Light rain occurred over Andhra Pradesh and coastal Odisha.
Shallow to moderate fog occurred over parts of Punjab, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand.
Weather Activity in the next 24 hours:
During the next 24 hours, light to moderate rain with a few heavy spells may occur over North coast of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.
Light to moderate rain is possible over North Tamil Nadu Rayalaseema, coastal Andhra Pradesh, South Chhattisgarh, Gangetic West Bengal and parts of Telangana.
Light rain and snowfall are possible over Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim.
Cold wave conditions are possible over parts of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
Ground Frost is possible over parts of Punjab, Haryana and North Rajasthan.
