Weather to not jinx PM Modi's visit to Varanasi this time

September 17, 2015 3:00 PM |

Weather to not jinx Modi’s Varanasi visit this timePrime Minister Narendra Modi and his Varanasi visit cancellations have made news. Monsoon rains have forced the Prime Minister to cancel his Varanasi visit twice, once on June 28, when heavy rain led to the cancellation of the event and another on July 16, when Modi’s visit was cancelled due to Monsoon showers.

However, rain gods have bestowed some kindness on the Prime Minister and his Varanasi visit for September 18 will not be hindered by rainfall. The holy city will observe mainly hot and humid conditions throughout the day with maximum and minimum temperatures settling at 33°C and 27°C, respectively. The sunrise time is 05:45 am while the sun will set at around 6:00 pm.

The humidity levels will remain high with some light breeze providing minimal relief at intervals. Significant relief will only be experienced under covers. The conditions will continue to be very humid and uncomfortable throughout the day.

The visit is expected to be a day long where Modi will inaugurate a trauma centre in BHU (Banaras Hindu University) and address a public meeting as well. Also, the Prime Minister is also expected to launch a few schemes related to the road and power sectors. The visit will take place after nine long months after his trip on December 25.

The visit to Varanasi will take place just a day after Modi’s birthday. Thus, local BJP supporters have come up with a programme “Swachch Kashi” as a birthday present for the Prime Minister. The supporters have decided to distribute 6600 (100 times Modi’s age) hygiene kits to the labourers and 660 (10 times his age) dustbins to boatmen who ferry tourists and pilgrims.
