Weather to go dry over Kolkata, partly cloudy sky to persist

Parts of the City of Joy of West Bengal, Kolkata witnessed some moderate rain and thundershowers in the past 24 hours. Within a span of 24 hours form 08:30 am on Wednesday, Dum Dum Observatory recorded a good 31 mm of rain, while Alipore Observatory remained rain free during the same time frame.

In the same period, some other districts of the state of West Bengal also recorded scattered rains and thundershowers of short duration such as Sriniketan 5 mm, Jalpaiguri 2 mm, Midnapore 1 mm, Digha 1 mm and Diamond Harbour 0.5 mm.

These post Monsoon showers were due to the moisture incursion over the region from the Bay of Bengal. Now, as per weathermen at Skymet Weather, rains will take a back seat and dry weather will again grip the city. The reason would be absence of any significant weather system over and around the region.

With this, day maximums are likely to settle near 32-33 degrees, while minimum temperatures will be around 23-24 degrees. The sky will be mainly clear but a few patches of cloud cannot be ruled out during the afternoon hours.

Currently, almost the entire country is facing dry and warm weather excluding a few southern states such as Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
