These rains can be attributed to the low pressure over Northeast Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas. Due to the off shore trough running along the West Coast, moisture incursion has increased over these areas resulting in good rains over Maharashtra. Also, the axis of Monsoon trough is running in close proximity of the region.

During the next 24 hours, widespread moderate to heavy rains will continue over both East and West Madhya Pradesh. However, rainfall intensity will be lesser over interiors of Maharashtra.
