During this Monsoon season, Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka have received normal rainfall till now, but North Interior Karnataka remained rain deficient by 26%.
However, the good news is that after a prolonged dry spell, good rains have occurred over northern districts of Karnataka wherein Bagalkote received 17 mm of rain and Koppal received 36 mm rain respectively. Few other nearby districts also received scattered rains. Light rain occurred over Coastal districts as well.
Now, we expect light to moderate rains to continue over Karnataka for another 24 hours. Thereafter, weather will become somewhat dry.
Thereafter, a Low-Pressure Area is developing over Bay of Bengal which will travel in westerly direction and therefore we expect rains to once again increase over Interior Karnataka, particularly over North Interior Karnataka on September 21 and 22. Although, this might be the last rain spell of this Monsoon season.
Coastal Karnataka will also receive scattered rains during this time, but the intensity will be less over South Interior Karnataka. Bangalore may receive light rains.
Skymet expects that by September 23 and 24, the rain deficiency of North Interior Karnataka will come down to some extent.
