Weather-wise South India continues to remain significantly active. The well-marked low is still lying in the extreme southwestBay of Bengaland will remain practically stationery for the next 48 hours. Therefore wet spells of varying intensity will continue at coastal parts of Tamil Nadu.
South coastal Tamil Nadu has received good showers with both Nagapattinam and Pamban recording 54 mm of rain on the 3rdof December. The interiors too have received traces of rain but the intensity of rain will decrease further before it picks up again in next 24 hours.
A series of systems have been forming in the Bay of Bengal in quick succession due to unsettled conditions over the sea in that area. However, the conditions are somehow not very favourable for severe intensification of these systems.
Weather in North India
No significant change is being witnessed in the weather conditions of North India with minimum in Delhi hovering in the range of 9 to 10 degrees. The Western Disturbance (WD) moving across extreme northern latitudes will not have any direct bearing over the plains. However, the predominantly cold winds may have some marginal effect on the temperatures. The lower hills are below freezing point with minimum in Srinagar being 2 degrees below normal at (-2.7 degrees). Minimums have dropped marginally in Punjab and adjoining areas as well. Amritsar recorded 7.4 degrees as minimum temperature on Wednesday morning against the previous day 's 9.3 degrees. Shallowfogengulfing parts of east Uttar Pradesh and Bihar in early morning hours is a good indication of the approaching winter season in India.
