The states of Punjab and Haryana experienced extremely heavy rains between September 22 and September 24. In fact, during this time, many districts in Punjab such as Pathankot, Amritsar, Patiala and Anantapur Sahib, recorded very heavy three-digit rainfall activity, exceeding more than 200 mm.
With these increased rains, as of today, the deficient state of Punjab is now rain surplus by 10%. Meanwhile, Haryana is receiving near normal rains and is only deficient by 10%.
These extremely heavy rains also resulted in below normal day and night temperatures over Punjab and Haryana. In Punjab, maximum temperatures were settling almost 9 to 10 degrees below normal.
Now the weather systems have cleared, and both the states are all set to experience dry and warm weather conditions along with sunny sky in the coming days. However, night and early mornings may still witness comfortable weather conditions.
With this, the maximum temperatures in Punjab and Haryana are also expected to rise significantly. Day temperatures will be seen settling in the mid-30s over most places but may also surpass and reach above 35˚C in few parts.
Therefore, coming days will be hot over both the states. But a little relief will be seen from the humidity conditions, as northwesterly winds are blowing over the region.
