Weather in North India to remain clear; warm weather in South India continues

February 11, 2014 1:45 PM |

The weather in North India is likely to remain clear during the next two to three days as the Western Disturbance has moved out of the region. The cyclonic circulation over Haryana has also turned feeble, reducing the clouds and turning the winds in the region to cool and dry northerly.

Night temperatures in northwest plains and adjoining parts of Central and East India that include Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and west Uttar Pradesh recorded below normal by up to 4 degrees on Tuesday.

Narnual recorded 2.6°C as the minimum temperature on Tuesday, the coldest place in the plains. Major cities of the region such as Amritsar, Chandigarh, Jaipur and Agra all recorded below normal minimums.

Meanwhile, maximum temperatures in the region rose a little but failed to bring any relief from the cold daytime. However, they will rise in the next two days to make the days pleasant.

The cold northerly winds are also likely to keep the night temperatures in East and Central India below normal as the weather is expected to become clear during the next two days. After rain, minimum temperatures in Lucknow and Kanpur dropped to single digits today indicating northerly winds have resumed and are ready to spread to some more parts of East India during the next two to three days.

Weather in Odisha along the east coast did witness clouds due to the anti-cyclonic circulation over parts of Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand. Cold northerly and humid easterly winds are mixing in these parts to make the weather cloudy. Some rain could also be expected in the state and other parts of east India over Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal during the next 24 hours.

Weather in South India

South India is already observing maximum temperatures settling in the mid thirties. According to our forecast, the temperatures will continue to rise during the next two days, keeping the weather warm and humid in coastal areas, along the west and east coast. Rayalaseema and Telangana in Andhra Pradesh are also experiencing similar temperatures. Anathapur in Andhra recorded a maximum of 36.6°C on Monday.
