Having received fair amount of rain last week, the weather in North India including Northwest, Indo-Gangetic plains, Central India, East India and eastern coast will remain clear with ample sunshine during the next two to three days.
In North India, places like Jammu, Amritsar, Jaipur, Agra and Delhi recorded day temperatures below normal by 2-5 degrees. A marginal rise could be witnessed in maximums during the next two days. However, it will not have much impact on the chilly conditions due to the presence of northwesterly winds. Day temperatures will again fall during the weekend as rain is expected from Friday onwards.
In the last 24 hours, the remnants of erstwhile Western Disturbance and cyclonic circulation brought good amounts of rain at many places in East India and eastern coast over Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and even Tamil Nadu. A north-south trough (region of intensified moist winds) extended along the east coast leading to rain in Vijaywada, Nellore and Chennai in South India.
But as the weather system has now moved to the Northeast, the weather will turn dry for the next two days and maximums will rise sharply under bright sun. Day temperatures have plummeted by 5°C to 10°C at many places in these regions.
Rain is expected to occur at many places in the northeastern states. Guwahati, Cherrapunji, Shillong and Imphal recorded rain in the last 24 hours. Weather in Northeast would remain rainy and cloudy for the next 48 hours. Dry weather is expected thereafter in the region.
