It’s the season when Mumbai remains balmy and filled with cool breeze.
It’s the season best suited to enjoy the pleasant weather of Mumbai.
However, soaring temperatures tell a different story.
The weather in city is highly uncomfortable as day temperatures refuse to observe a dip. With season’s highest maximum temperature of 38.8°C on 22nd February, the temperatures are expected to observe a rising trend for another week or so.
The temperature is also the highest in last ten years. The all-time highest temperature of 40°C was recorded on 28th Feb, 1953.
The city also recorded high day temperature of 38.3°C on 21st February, Saturday which was 8 degrees above normal.
According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, in absence of any weather activity, the city is reeling under high humidity conditions that are giving discomforting days to the residents of Mumbai. Delayed onset of sea breeze is also resulting in high temperatures.
February hardly observes any precipitation. The overall extremely high maximums lead to very hot and humid conditions in the city. As for minimums, it is not very common for Mumbai to record single digit minimums except for a couple of instances.
