There is a concern over cold weather conditions during the 11th Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon which is set to be held this Sunday. But according to our forecast, cold conditions during morning hours in Mumbai will get better as temperatures are going to rise by 2°C during the next two days.
Mumbai had witnessed below normal morning temperature on Thursday at 15.4°C but due to change in winds, the minimum has begun rising as Friday recorded 16.6°C and this trend will continue on Sunday as well. Day temperature in Mumbai will be nearing thirties.
Runners would perspire less as winds that would prevail on race day will come from land thus will be drier than those coming from the Arabian Sea.
Defending champions Lynghkoi Binning and Lalita Babbar will lead the Indian field for the full marathon. Security measures are being beefed up for the event in view of last year's explosions at Boston Marathon that left three dead and over 170 injured.
The Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon is an annual international marathon held in the commercial capital of India on the third Sunday of January every year. It is the largest marathon in Asia as well as the largest mass participation sporting event in the continent. It is the most expensive race in India with a prize pool of about Rs. 2.14 crores.
