Day temperatures in the national capital were soaring and settling above 40°C before the dust storm activity on Tuesday. The Safdarjung Observatory had recorded 43°C as the day temperature on May 18, which is the highest of the season so far.
But the weather activity brought a brief respite from the rising temperature. For instance, the maximum temperature on Tuesday and Wednesday settled in the low 40s. Though the drop in temperature was marginal, cool winds and overcast conditions brought great respite from the heat.
However, the temperatures in Delhi are expected to rise once again, crossing the 40°C mark. Currently hot and dry northwesterly winds are blowing over the region which are assisting in rise of temperatures. Nights are also expected to get warmer with minimum temperatures likely to settle between 28°C and 30°C. However, we can still expect dust storm and thunderstorm activity accompanied by strong winds over Delhi in the coming weekend.
