Janmashtami marks the birth of Lord Krishna, also known as Balgopal, Govinda, Manmohan, Murlimanohar and the list goes on. This festival is celebrated with much fervour every year across India. The eight day of Krishna Paksha of the month of Shravan is considered to be auspicious for celebrating his birth.
There are different versions of how the Lord was born and therefore, several myths attached to it. One such myth says that it generally rains during the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna, especially in his birth place Mathura. But, this year we could see a different story all together.
Here’s a look at the weather in major cities of India during Janmashtami.
Weather in Mathura and Vrindavan
Going by the age old myth, it should rain in Mathura and Vrindavan on Saturday night. However, according to Skymet the weather will remain mostly dry as the devotees engage in rituals during this holy festival. Temperatures will remain within comfortable levels tonight.
Weather in Delhi and NCR
Conditions are now becoming favourable over the national capital region for the withdrawal of Monsoon. Dry northwesterly winds are blowing over the region. But, night will be pleasant when devotees will flock several Krishna temples in the area.
Weather in Mumbai
The followers of lord Krishna undergo fasting for the entire day and offer prayers after midnight. Ras Lila and Dahi Handi are the two main rituals observed during Janmashtami celebrations. Ras Lila depicts the life of lord Krishna. On the other hand, Dahi Handi is an event cherished by people in Maharashtra and Goa. It is no less than an adventure sport here. It involves a bunch of people making a human pyramid to reach an earthen pot filled with curd and butter.
Weather in Mumbai will be mostly pleasant for the next two days. There are chances of light rainfall in few pockets.
