After recording on and off rains for the last few days, pre-Monsoon activities are likely to pick up pace. However, intensity of rains will be more over South Gujarat.
Places such as Surat, Valsad, Veraval, Junagarh, Amreli and Rajkot will record light rain and thundershowers, with isolated moderate spells during the next 24 hours. Rest parts of the state like Ahmedabad are likely to receive mainly light showers along with thunderstorm and lightning.
In fact, few coastal areas like Surat has also started receiving rain and thundershowers since the morning hours.
These rains can be attributed to the strengthening of the southwesterly winds over the region. According to Skymet Weather, a fresh cyclonic circulation is likely to form over Northeast Arabian Sea. The system is likely to get more marked gradually and will move along the West Coast.
