Delhi-NCR will continue to sizzle under intense heat wave conditions, which have intensified its grip over national capital since the last two days. After recording season’s highest maximum, mercury is expected to soar further and next 48 hours remain crucial.
Worse, no respite is likely soon as there isn't any weather system approaching North India. As per the latest forecast by Skymet Meteorology Division in India, intense hot weather conditions are expected to prevail for next one week.
On Saturday, the city recorded season’s highest day temperature at 44.5°C, five degrees above normal. While, Palam Observatory was sizzling at 46.2°C.
At present, hot and dry northwesterlies are blowing over the region from Central Pakistan and Rajasthan, where temperatures have reached up to 49°C. These winds will further increase maximum and minimum temperatures.
Moreover, there will be change in wind pattern from northwesterlies to warm southwesterlies that will increase the humidity levels, further adding to the discomfort of Delhiites.
However, the city might get temporary relief from heat as dust storm and thunderstorm activity is expected to sweep some parts of the city during later half of Sunday.
Let us have a look at the temperatures across Delhi recorded on May 24.
