January 27, 2014 2:55 PM |

The biting cold weather in Delhi is expected to remain extremely pleasant this entire week, inform forecasters at Skymet. No shivering in the cold for the next couple of days and no need to bulk up to protect yourself from the cold wave. Afternoons are expected to be sunny and warm while, nights will be pleasantly chilly. Moreover, dense fog which has been bothering Delhi for the last few weeks, will also stay at bay.

“Our weather models suggest that the weather in Delhi this week will be pleasant. This week the temperatures in Delhi will maintain around the normal average. The minimums will hover around 8⁰C to 9⁰C while, the maximums will settle in the range of 20⁰C to 21⁰C”, shares a senior meteorologist at Skymet.

Today the minimum in Delhi settled at 10.1⁰C (one degree above normal) whereas, the maximum recorded yesterday was 20.3⁰C (one degree below the normal average). And with the winter sun shining bright today, the maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to settle around 21⁰C .

Fog in Delhi which had been very dense for the last few weeks with visibility at many pockets including Palam dropping to nil, remained better on Monday morning, allowing smooth flight operations. Fog cover in Delhi will be lesser this week.

Low temperature and dense fog in Delhi will only be restricted to isolated pockets as experienced in the last couple of days. For example, South Delhi has often reported shallow fog while, Palam has been observing moderate to dense fog. There has been variation in minimum temperatures as well.

Today, the morning minimum recorded at the Palam observatory was 8.6⁰C while, Safdurjung recorded 10.1⁰C . Hindon and Jaffarpur recorded 7.7⁰C and 6.6⁰C as minimum temperatures respectively. However, the general weather in Delhi will be nice and pleasant.

“We are entering a good weather period now. Though the Western Disturbances will continue to affect Delhi and North India, they will only bring a short spell of cold weather”, said our met official.
