The weather system currently lies in Jammu & Kashmir and will stay for another 24 hours. During these 24 hours, light snow or rain could occur at isolated places in the state as well as in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Another WD is expected from Friday (17th January), that would again bring snow and rainfall in these areas.
Absence of the WD for the next two days will allow the northerly to northwesterly winds become dominant in the plains that are witnessing better night temperatures for the last two days. Delhi in the region recorded 8.2°C Celsius as the minimum temperature on Tuesday morning. But a fall of 2 to 3°C in the night temperatures cannot be ruled out during this period.
Due to better sky conditions, day temperature in Delhi has risen above normal to record 21°C Celsius on Monday. The maximum is expected to stick around the same level till Thursday. A fall in the temperature is likely on Friday as clouds associated with the approaching WD will gain ground in North India. Rain in Delhi could also be expected by that time.
