The battle of ballots will begin on the 7th of April and cover six Lok Sabha constituencies in the two states of Assam and Tripura. As the country gears up for the 16th Lok Sabha election polls, let’s find out the weather conditions in these states.
Weather in Assam and Tripura
Northeast India has been experiencing difficult weather conditions with widespread light to good amounts of rain. According to the latest weather update by Skymet Meteorology Division in India, the weather is expected to remain so during elections as well.
The only solace is that rain here mostly occurs during late evening hours and continues till early morning. Therefore, rain is not likely to bother the voters but humidity and temperatures in mid-thirties could definitely cause a lot of discomfort. Thought the residents of this part of the country are used to such weather conditions, scorching sun and humid southwesterly winds could be unbearable during afternoon hours in Assam and Tripura.
This year the voting hours for Lok Sabha polls have been fixed from 7 am to 6 pm but the Northeastern states generally start an hour early and finish off accordingly.
The second polling day on 9th April will cover seven constituencies in five states. The other days when the nation will go to polls are April 10, 12, 17, 24, 30, May 7 and May 12. Skymet Meteorology Division in India will keep getting its readers latest weather update during the election polls.
This exciting battle will decide the future of the country headed either by Narendra Modi or the ruling Congress. As of now there seems very less possibility of a third party taking top position.
This time 9.71 crore new voters have been added to the rolls and around 81.4 crore citizens will be eligible to cast their votes in the coming elections. A rigorous three-year campaign steered by the Election Commission of India has ensured this increase in voter base.
