Rains finally reappeared over the city on Friday morning. These fresh spells of rains have ushered immense relief from the extremely humid and warm weather conditions prevalent over the city for last many days.

At present, the day temperature is hovering around 27°C and we do not expect mercury to go beyond 31°C or 32°C.

According to Skymet Weather, weather conditions had become conducive for rains and thundershowers since Thursday night itself. Cool breeze has been blowing across the national capital since last night.

Rain bearing clouds were hovering over the city since early morning hours, with rains making an appearance around 7:30 am. Places such as Panchsheel, New Friends Colony, Sarita Vihar, Jasola, Jamia Nagar, Okhla, Kalkaji, Saket, Hauz Khas and Malviya Nagar have reported light spells of rains.

In fact, nearby areas of Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad have also started receiving Monsoon rains.

As per weathermen, intensity of rains is likely to increase gradually today. Though some places like Palam, Mahipalpur, Mehrauli, Chattarpur and Gurugram have not seen rains yet but showers are likely to commence over these places anytime soon.

We can expect moderate rains and thundershowers with heavy spells at few places to drench the Delhi-NCR. “Moderate to heavy rains are likely to lash Delhi NCR for the next 48 hours, leading significant drop in day temperatures. Intensity of rains will be more on Friday but Saturday will also not be disappointing with good rains,” said Mahesh Palawat, Chief Meteorologist, Skymet Weather.

This fresh spell of rains can be attributed to the well-marked low pressure area prevailing over North Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas. The system is presently moving in northwest direction towards Delhi-NCR and also, it is a slow moving system and thus, it will impact the weather for a longer duration.

In addition to this, a fresh Western Disturbance is also affecting Jammu and Kashmir and neighbouring areas, which will further enhance the rain activity.

So, Delhiites needs to pull up their socks for some good showers, which will most likely lead to water logging and traffic jams.
