Weather gods have been playing games with the North Indian plains for the past few days. So much so that weather remained hot for quite some time now, particularly over Chandigarh. Both maximum and minimum temperatures are settling above the normal levels.

However, now with the fresh Western Disturbance over the Western Himalayas, a cyclonic circulation has been induced from the system. Along with this, a trough is also extending from this system across the North Indian plain region.

Due to the aforementioned weather features, rainfall has already made an appearance over several parts of North India. In fact, Delhi and the NCR region along with Punjab and Haryana witnessed some rains. Record breaking rains were witnessed over the national capital.

Chandigarh also recorded 0.2 mm of rainfall during the last 24 hours. As per weathermen at Skymet, more rain and thundershowers are expected over the capital city of both Punjab as well as Haryana.

Cloudy conditions are already being observed over Chandigarh. The possibility of lightning and thunder activity along with squally winds cannot be ruled out. Rainfall activity is expected to be light to moderate in terms of intensity. The spread of rains is also likely to be widespread.

In fact, a few sharp spells are also expected over the city. These rains are likely to continue for the next 24 to 48 hours. Both minimums as well as maximums will also witness a gradual drop by 2 to 4 degrees in the coming days.
