A look at the weather forecast in India for the week:
North and Northwest India
The week starts with dense fog conditions affecting road, rail and air traffic in the northwest plains. These conditions would continue to be witnessed till the arrival of a new Western Disturbance on Wednesday which will reduce the chances of dense fog in the region. Rain and snow would occur in the hills of North India by the middle of the week. The passage of the Western Disturbance from Friday onwards will again pull down the night temperatures in the plains, making the weekend colder.
Central India
The approaching Western Disturbance will have its associated cyclonic circulation over the northwest plains somewhere in Madhya Pradesh. Due to this weather system, rain could be experienced in Madhya Pradesh, central Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh during weekend. Night temperatures will drop in the region after the eastward movement of the Western Disturbance and the cyclonic circulation.
East India and Northeast India
With the movement of the above weather systems, East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim will also observe rain during the weekend. Night temperatures will rise during this period in these areas but they would fall thereafter to increase the chill at the start of the next week.
Meanwhile, day temperatures would drop during the weekend due to cloudy sky and rain. There are also chances of similar weather conditions in Assam in the Northeast
South India
The week starts with an increase in rain in south coastal Tamil Nadu and adjoining parts of Kerala. This is due to the influence of a depression in the southwest Bay of Bengal. The period of rain will last till mid-week. The weather system will not give rain in interiors of south India over Rayalaseema and south interior Karnataka but sky will remain cloudy in these parts that could drop the day temperatures.
