Weather forecast for the week in India from 5th January to 11th January

January 5, 2015 2:58 PM | Skymet Weather Team

The weather systems – Western Disturbance, low pressure, cyclonic circulation and northeast monsoon - that had been impacting the entire country over the last few days will diminish this week. Good weather conditions are expected to prevail with rise in maximum temperatures in North India. However, the minimums will observe a drop due to absence of clouding.
Here’s a look at the weather across the country:

Weather in North India

Presently there is a system (Western Disturbance) moving across Jammu and Kashmir, which is likely to give snow and rain in the higher reaches of the state and Himachal Pradesh. The lower parts of the states will be dry with clear weather conditions. This system will sustain over the next two days but will do nothing in terms of rain or clouding in the plains.

However, another system is likely to come up by January 10 and affect the weather in the plains of North India. On January 10 and January 11 we can expect snow and rain in the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The plains could also observe some rain by January 12, first day of the next week.

Meanwhile, Delhi and NCR will experience strong low level winds which will increase the chill factor. But the winds will reduce the chances of fog in the region. Places in the foothills, like Jammu, Chandigarh and Amritsar could still witness foggy conditions.

As far as temperatures are concerned, we can observe a drop in minimums across the region, while day temperatures are likely to sustain.

Weather in East and Northeast India

East India will observe god weather conditions. Day temperatures, that had com down due to clouding and rain will rise with the passage of the system. Nights will however, get colder as minimums will drop. Foggy conditions will prevail with Lucknow, Varanasi and Gorakhpur being the preferred pockets.

Meanwhile, we expect some good rain in Arunachal Pradesh on January 7 and January 8. Isolated places in the state could also witness heavy rainfall. Besides this, the weather will largely remain clear in entire Northeast India.

Weather in Central India

Here too we expect good weather but with some chill factor in the first half of the week. The chill will cover entire Madhya Pradesh coming down to Gujarat and Maharashtra. Maximums and minimum temperatures have been settling way below normal in the region, but with some good sunshine expected in the second half of the week the temperatures will return to normal.

Weather in South India

Bay Islands of Andaman and Nicobar and Port Blair will observe some very good rain the entire week, with isolated places experiencing heavy rain.
Baring these two places there is not much expected to happen in South India as the northeast monsoon has already come to an end. We can observe a rise in temperatures across the region due to clear skies and good sunshine.
