Weather forecast for the week in India from 3rd March to 9th March

A look at the weather forecast for India for the week:

North India - A cold February ended but the month of March too began on a chilly note for Delhi and North India as minimums dropped significantly and the maximums too settled way below normal. The start of this week could also be a cold one but the weather could soon change and become warmer and stable. The weather in North India at night could be warm with minimums settling beyond 12⁰C by mid-week. The maximums will also settle alittle higher, in the mid-twenties. In the hills, a fresh and feeble Western Disturbance could give rain and snow in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. The weather in the hills could turn dry from Wednesday onwards.

East and Northeast India - Parts of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Arunachal Pradesh which were receiving rain till Sunday, in view of the cyclonic circulation in Central India, will now turn dry and warm in the absence of any weather system or rain. The weather in East and Northeast India will be warm during the day as the maximum temperature will rise to settle in the higher twenties, beyond 28⁰C. Some places could even touch 30⁰C and above. Minimums would however, settle between 14⁰C to 15⁰C, i.e. near the normal average.

Central India - After receiving heavy showers last week, Central India will again observe rain this week. Rain will continue throughout the week in Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and south Madhya Pradesh. Isolated rain could also occur at Odisha. Rain spells could be short but frequent and could occur during the later half of the day. Maximums in areas which receive rain will maintain around 26⁰C. Gujarat could be the warmest and driest place in the region .

South India – Pre monsoon rain in South India will be active in Kerala this week. Thiruvananthapuram may continue to receive light rain this week. Despite rain, Kerala will be among the hottest place in India, with the interiors of the state recording maximums above 35⁰C. Other places in the neighbouring states could also receive light rain this week, particularly Bangalore. Konkan, Goa and Mumbai may witness dry weather this week. All in all the weather in South India will be rainy this week.
