A look at the weather forecast in India for the coming week:
South India – A rainy week lies ahead for South India, though the first half could be relatively dry. Forecasts show, Cyclone Lehar brewing in the Bay of Bengal currently could bring heavy rain to Andhra Pradesh and good amounts of showers in North Tamil Nadu and South Odisha. As Lehar makes landfall around the 28th or the 29th of November, rain belt will further shift to the interiors of South India. Parts of interior Tamil Nadu, interior Karnataka as well as Kerala could also receive widespread light rain. On an average, maximums and minimums in south India will maintain around 30⁰C and 23⁰C respectively. Needless to say, mercury levels could drop significantly in areas of heavy rain due to Cyclone Lehar.
Central India - No significant weather will be experienced in central India this entire week. However this part of the country could be slightly warmer than the rest. Lights woolens will be enough during the night, which will not be very cold, with minimums between 18⁰C t0 20⁰C. Day could be uncomfortably dry and quite warm at times, with maximums settling around 30⁰C in most parts.
North India - This week the weather in North India will be quite pleasant. Presence of no western disturbance will make the weather nice and sunny. Clouding will be nil and no rain will occur. Chilly northwesterly winds will sweep across entire North India and the day and night temperatures which were maintaining above normal by about 2 to 3 degrees in both the hills and the plains, will begin to drop by mid-week. Early mornings and nights will become slightly chilly with minimums settling around 11⁰C to 12⁰C. Day will be sunny but not too warm, at around 26⁰C to 27⁰C in Delhi, Punjab and Haryana. Good visibility levels will not hamper air or rail traffic in any way.
East and Northeast India - Last week was cold for East India, with East Uttar Pradesh particularly, recording minimum temperatures 4 to 5 degrees below normal. This week, the weather in East India will be less chilly, though still quite cold. Minimums this week could settle between 11⁰C to 12⁰C in most parts. Day will remain slightly warm and sunny between 27⁰C to 28⁰C. Slight haze will be observed in regions along the foothills of Himalayas, during early morning hours. But this may fail to hamper air traffic. People of Northeast India will feel the chill at nights, as the minimum temperatures in these parts will continue to remain below normal.
