As we are heading towards peak winter in North India, the coming days will observe cold waves and foggy conditions. Here is a region wise weather forecast for the week in India
North India
The region is witnessing the impact of a Western Disturbance for the last two days in the form of cold day conditions. But the system is expected to move out in the next 24 hours, increasing the day temperatures and pulling down the minimums by 2-3 degrees during the first three days of the week. However, another fresh Western Disturbance will start affecting the region from Wednesday night onwards, leading to an increase in night temperatures towards the weekend. Day temperatures may again fall by that time. Fog conditions will not be as bad as the previous week but dense fog could still effect some pockets during the week.
East India
The Indo-Gangetic plains including Allahabad, Varanasi, Gorakhpur and Patna are currently witnessing above normal night temperatures. But the weather forecast for the week shows fall in minimum temperatures, while maximums in the region are expected to remain normal. Fog will continue to be witnessed in morning hours throughout the week. Fog density will depend on the prevailing temperatures, humidity levels and wind speeds.
Central India
Night temperatures in Central India are above normal at the moment but as the week progresses, they will come down by 2 to 3 degrees in accordance with the weather in northwest plains. The region will remain dry throughout the week due to lack of rain. Day temperatures which are below normal right now will rise to become comfortable. However, they are expected to drop again by the weekend.
South India
Devoid of any weather system, South India will remain dry during the week except the extreme peninsular region which could receive rain due to some moist wind surge from the Bay of Bengal. Night temperatures are above normal in the interiors of South India but they will drop marginally by the middle of the week to again pick up towards the end. Day temperatures that are near average at the moment will rise marginally during the week. The maximums along the West coast are warmer than the east coast and is expected to remain the same for the entire week.
Northeast India
The remnants of previous Western Disturbance over Northeast India have brought rain in the region in the last two days. More rain is expected here during the first two to three days of the week due to the passing Western Disturbance over Jammu & Kashmir.
