According to the latest weather update by Skymet Meteorology Division, the weather in India could be dry in most parts till the end of the week. Here’s a look:
North India -The weather in North India will be hot and dry this week. Hot summer days will now start to bother you as maximums could rise to settle around 40⁰C towards the end of the week. Till then they may hover in the higher thirties in Delhi and its adjoining states. Approach of a new Western Disturbance may lead to light rain/snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir and thunderstorm/thundershowers in northern plains, on the 25th or 26th of April. A weather system over Rajasthan may give rain in the southern and eastern parts of the state on the 27th or 28th of April.
East and Northeast India – Absence of rain has made the weather in East and Northeast India extremely hot and dry. While the maximums have already touched 40⁰C at many places in East India, maximums in Northeast India have set records for the highest day temperatures in the last ten years. No relief from the heat is expected for East India. Northeast however, could see fairly widespread rain from the 25th to 28th of April.
Central India – Barring parts of Maharashtra, where isolated very light rainfall is expected till mid-week, the weather in Central India will be dry and uncomfortable. Warm variable winds could make Odisha one of the hottest states in India. After receiving light rain on the first day of the week, Gujarat too may turn dry. Day temperatures in Central India will settle in the range of 37⁰C to 41⁰C.
South India – The weather in South India has been rainy on and off. This week pre-monsoon showers will continue to occur in Kerala due to a confluence of warm and humid and dry and hot air masses. Towards the end of the week, i.e. around 27th or 28th of April, light rain could be received at coastal Tamil Nadu and north coastal Andhra Pradesh. Rain may bring little or no change in the temperature profile of South India, where the maximums are currently settling in the mid-thirties in most parts.
