It will be a week of light rain in most parts of India. Here’s a quick look at the weather and rain situation across the country.

North India: Rain will reduce significantly from Monday onwards. The plains of north India, including Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and west Uttar Pradesh, will witness patchy rain between 5 to 20mm at some places. Rain will continue throughout the week but will reduce further and come down to below 5mm in many parts. The hills will also observe little rain. Temperatures are expected to rise by 2 to 3 degrees. Humidity is also likely to remain high the entire week.

East and Northeast India: Bihar is already facing rain deficit of close to 30% and any hopes of that figure improving this week looks dismal. Meanwhile, light rain may occur for the first two days in some parts of east Uttar Pradesh, Orissa and Jharkhand. But this rain will reduce considerably, leaving the remaining days of the week mainly dry. Temperatures will start rising due to less rain and minimal cloud cover. In northeast India, rain will be mainly light over most parts. Assam and Arunachal Pradesh may see a rise in the maximum temperature. Mercury may touch 36⁰C at times.

Central India: Central India has continuously been witnessing heavy showers since the monsoon season started with some places recording excess rainfall by over 200%. Moderate rain will continue for this entire week. It could be heavy in some pockets of east Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Parts of north Vidarbha may also have good rain. Mercury levels will continue to be below normal and will not exceed beyond 30 degree Celsius. However, areas of Marathwada could be drier due to little rain and will therefore see a rise in the temperatures by 1 to 2 degrees.

South India: It will be a week of scanty rain for entire south India except east coast that will receive light rain at some places. Some rain is also expected along the Andhra and Tamil Nadu coast throughout the week. The west coast of peninsular India may however receive rain in the initial two to three days of the week and reduce drastically by the middle of the week, making the weather mostly dry in major cities like Mumbai. The interiors of south India will be dry this week. Temperatures may rise by 2 to 3 degrees in some parts of south India due decrease in rain. Bangalore will continue to have chilly nights at 19 to 20 degrees and Tamil Nadu may remain the hot bed of the country at 37 degrees.
