Weather forecast for the week in India from 16th February to 22nd February

The hills of North India are going to witness a prolonged weather activity this week. Rain and snow is a high possibility in all the three hilly states of Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. There are chances of rain in Northeast India as well this week. The Central and Southern parts of the country will remain dry.

Here’s a look at the weather across the country:

Weather in North India

Back to back Western Disturbances are expected to cause prolonged weather activity in form of rain and snow in the hilly states of North India. The day temperatures in the region, particularly in the hills have been maintaining 5-6 degrees above the normal average. For instance Manali in Himachal Pradesh recorded 16.6°C as the maximum temperature on Sunday, which is 5 degrees above the normal average. Shimla too saw the day temperatures settle 6 degrees above the normal average at 16.3°C.

However, with rain and snow expected during the week the temperatures will drop a few degrees to make the day conditions a little comfortable for the entire week.

Down in the plains rain is also likely over parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi-NCR and west Rajasthan. Delhi-NCR will observe rain on February 18 and 19, after which we can expect a marginal drop in day temperatures.

Weather in Central India

The weather in Central India is going to be warm and dry this week. The skies will be clear in the region with temperatures settling above normal. Gujarat will be the pocket where one will really feel the heat due to high day and night temperatures.

Weather in East and Northeast India

East India is not expected to witness any weather activity. However, Northeast India will observe scattered light rain, particularly during the second half of the week.
Northeast India is observing a pleasant weather right now, which unusual for this time of the month. And with forecast of rain the weather will continue to remain pleasing.

Weather in South India

It is going to be another week of dry and warm weather in the region. Telangana and Rayalaseema will be the hottest pocket with day temperature settling in the higher thirties. The interiors have also begun to witness maximums in the mid-30s.
The temperatures in the coastal areas will continue to remain the same. The day temperature along the west coast is expected to settle in the mid-30s, while in the east coast it will hover around 30 degrees Celsius.
