Here’s a look at the weather forecast for the week in India:
North India - The week started with the weather in North India being dry and warm. However, weather predictions by Skymet came true as rain occurred on Wednesday morning, bringing relief from the heat. The spell of rain in Delhi and North India is expected to last till the 19th of April. Passage of the Western Disturbance and the cyclonic circulation dying down in Rajasthan, will lead to dry weather from 20th April onwards. Till the time cloudy and rainy weather in North India persists, day temperatures will settle in the lower thirties. The minimums on the other hand could be higher, settling above 20⁰C.
East and Northeast India - According to the latest weather update by Skymet Meteorology Division in India, weather in most parts of East India will be dry and hot. Isolated pockets of Odisha and Chhattisgarh will be the only places to receive thundershowers. Rain in these parts could continue till Friday or Saturday. Weather in Northeast India will also be dry. Arunachal Pradesh could receive very light rain on the 18th of April which will begin to ease out by 19th of April. Maximums in East and Northeast India will settle between 38⁰C and 40⁰C.
Central India - Central India has been waiting for rain for a long time. Though, the weather in Central India will be rainy only for a short duration, towards the end of the week, this will bring smiles to the faces of people in Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Marathawada and Telangana. The wind discontinuity near Odisha will travel towards Madhya Pradesh giving rain on the 20th of April. Till rain doesn't occur, the weather will be hot and uncomfortable. Maximums will settle at around 40⁰C and the sun will be harsh during the day.
South India – The weather in Kerala has been both wet and dry. The week started off with light rain in Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, south interior Karnataka and parts of Tamil Nadu. However, by mid-week most parts will turn dry, except Kerala. Thundershowers and occasional moderate intensity rain will continue to lash Kerala for almost the entire week. Rain will be sporadic and will occur towards the later part of the day. Andhra Pradesh will be the hottest state in South India, with maximums rising to settle around 39⁰C. Mumbai could witness the coolest days, with maximums around 31⁰C.
