Weather forecast for the week in India from 11th Nov to 17th Nov

November 11, 2013 7:30 PM |

While the northern region of India is expected to get colder this week, peninsular India could see increased rainfall due to a low pressure system currently present in the Bay of Bengal. Here’s a quick look at the weather forecast in India for the coming week:

North India - The first half of the week will see dry weather with clear skies in the hills as well as in the plains of North India. But by the mid of the week, the weather in North India will change to partly cloudy to cloudy skies with the approach of a fresh Western Disturbance. Therefore with this new Western Disturbance, Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh could witness yet another spell of rain and snow. Maximum temperatures in the plains of the north will maintain maximums of around 26 degrees this week, however the minimums may drop, making the early mornings and nights even colder. The weather in north India will once change to dry days and clear skies by the weekend.

East and Northeast India - Northeast monsoon gave little rain over northeast India this winter. With no change, weather will continue to remain dry here. Visibility levels in east India in the first half of the week will remain fine but winds are becoming lighter, hence smog will settle in, making early mornings quite hazy, particularly in the foothills of Bihar and Gangetic West Bengal. Maximums are expected to remain between 28 to 30 degrees throughout the week. Minimums which are currently maintaining 3 to 4 degrees below normal in the northeast will come close to normal. Nights will be cool in East India with minimums around 13 to 14 degrees.

Central India - Weather in central India in the first half of the week is expected to be slightly warm as compared to north India. Maximums at Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha and Gujarat are expected to remain between 30 to 33 degrees. Skies will be clear and sunny. Light and cool easterlies will make the nights quite pleasant in the region, between 14 to 16 degrees. However, the weather could turn cloudy towards the second half of the week. This may happen due to the system in the Bay of Bengal, which may not only affect peninsular India but could also have its effects on central India. Day temperatures may drop due to the same.

South India – Northeast monsoon has been weak for the last few days in south India. The first two days of the week will also see little rain over Kerala and Tamil Nadu. But as the low pressure system in the Bay of Bengal intensifies further into a depression and then into a mild cyclonic storm, south coastal Andhra and Tamil Nadu may receive good amount of rain. Rain will continue to be scattered over Kerala as the system may not have much affect over the state. Isolated rain will occur at Karnataka. As rainfall increases, maximums will drop significantly in most parts of south India. The clouding effects of the same system may make the day temperatures (35⁰C) in Maharashtra drop by 2 to 3 degrees. This could bring much relief from the warm and humid weather in coastal regions like Mumbai and Mangalore.
