People in many parts of India will enjoy a rainy Valentine week due to a fresh weather system. Here’s a look at the weather forecast for India for the entire week:

North India - Weather in North India in the first half of the week will be dry and cold, with very low minimums. The second half will turn rainy due to a fresh Western Disturbance in the hills and circulation of winds around Gujarat and Rajasthan. While rain/snow will be scattered in the hills and will be confined more to Himachal Pradesh, it will be widespread in the plains including Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan on the 14th of February. From 15th onwards the rain belt will start shifting towards Uttar Pradesh.  As a result, the minimums that had been recording below normal will rise to settle around 10⁰C or above.

East India - The rain belt travelling from North India, will give good showers over East and Northeast India this week. Rain will commence from the 15th and will last till the 17th of February in parts of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, north Jharkhand and hilly regions of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh in Northeast India. But before rain occurs in this part of the country, maximums will be comfortable while, minimums will be on the lower side. Maximums will settle between 25⁰C to 27⁰C and the minimums will record between 5⁰C to 8⁰C. With rain, cold day conditions (maximums below 16⁰C) could once again be experienced in Northeast India. Fog will continue in parts of Siliguri, Agartala and Guwahati in the Northeast.

Central India - Weather in Central India will also be eventful, in terms of rain this week. The wind circulation near Gujarat could feed moisture and give rain in parts of Marathwada, Vidarbha, Madhya Pradesh and north Chhattisgarh on the 15th of February. Parts of Odisha and West Bengal may also receive light showers on the 16th of February, due to an anti-cyclonic circulation in the Bay of Bengal. Maximums in Madhya Pradesh will settle between 23⁰ C to 25⁰C while, in Maharashtra and Odisha it will settle around 32⁰C and 35⁰C respectively, before rain occurs and pulls down the mercury levels.

South India – With progression into February, temperatures in South India continue to settle in the higher thirties in many parts. Barring parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, where light rain is a possibility, weather in South India will see little or no rain this week. Days will be dry and extremely warm, with maximums settling between 33⁰C and 34⁰C along the west coast and between 30⁰C to 31⁰C along the east coast. While some places in the interiors of South India (eg: Madurai) will be the warmest at around 37⁰C, other places like Kodaikanal will be cool and pleasant at around 20⁰C.
