The depression over Jharkhand has moved in a west-northwest direction at a speed of 12 kmph during the past six hours and lay centred at 0530 hours IST today, August 19, over North Jharkhand and adjoining Southwest Bihar, near latitude 24.2°N and longitude 84.6°E. It is expected to continue moving in a west-northwest direction towards North Chhattisgarh by the evening of August 19.

The monsoon trough at mean sea level now passes through Ferozepur, Patiala, Bareilly, Lucknow, the centre of the depression over North Jharkhand and adjoining Southwest Bihar, and then extends in a southeast direction towards North Bengal.

The trough no extends from the cyclonic circulation associated with the depression over North Jharkhand and adjoining Southwest Bihar to the South Gujarat region across Madhya Pradesh at 3.1 km above mean sea level.

A cyclonic circulation is over Punjab and adjoining areas at 7.6 km above mean sea level.
