A low pressure area over Andaman & Nicobar Islands will bring heavy showers in this region. This system will gradually become more prominent in the next 48 hours. A well marked low pressure area over southwest Arabian Sea is moving away from India in the westward direction.
The Western Disturbance, bringing snowfall in Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh since the last couple of day, will clear out and move eastwards in the next 48 hours. Presently, widespread multi-layered clouds bringing rain and snow will keep the temperatures much below normal in the hilly areas.
Northern plains will also witness a drop in day temperatures with Amritsar recoding a low of 24 degrees. Maximum temperatures will be below normal by 5 to 6°C at many places over Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. After the Western Disturbance passes, temperatures will rise to reach normal at about 28 degrees. However, there will not be much improvement against the haze and mist that prevails. The national capital will continue to reel under hazy mornings and late evenings. The existing upper air cyclonic circulation over east Rajasthan and adjoining areas is expected to become less significant in the next 24 hours.
Medium to high clouds over north Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas of Bundelkhand will bring some showers. Rest of central India and the northeastern states will continue to have fair weather with near normal temperatures. The northeast monsoon is likely to pick up strength in the coming few days.
