Weather across major cities in India on 66th Republic Day

Republic Day in PatnaDelhi is not the only city, which is gearing up for the 66th Republic Day celebrations.  There are several other cities across India that too host the grand event, though not as big as the one at India Gate. State Chief Ministers, Governors ad several ministers preside over the celebrations, which is also attended by scores of visitors.  So, let us have a look at the weather in some of the major cities on Republic Day.

Jammu
Jammu is the winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir and thus holds the Republic Day ceremony. A Western Disturbance is expected to affect the state during this time, however the affect will be confined to higher reaches only. Partly cloudy sky is expected on the day and people will have to brave cold conditions. Maximum temperature will settle between 18°C and 19°C, while minimum will be in the range of 5°C to 6°C.

Gandhinagar
The capital city of Gujarat will observe good weather conditions with clear sky, making it a comfortable day for the celebrations. There is no threat of rain and good sunny day is expected in Gandhinagar. Maximum temperature will settle in mid 20s and minimum will hover around 14°C.

Bhopal
Threat of rain looms large over Bhopal, capital of Madhya Pradesh. It is presently witnessing cloudy sky and rain may spoil the Republic Day celebrations. The city has already received 27 mm of rainfall against the normal average of 12.7 mm in January so far. The day temperature is expected to settle in low 20s, while night temperature will record between 11°C and 12°C.

Chennai
The city too has been witnessing light rain for the past two days and the rainfall is likely to continue, which may hamper the ceremony. Sky will remain cloudy and both maximum and minimum temperatures will settle in high 20s and low 20s, respectively in Chennai.

Shillong
Th day is expected to be sunny in the  picturesque hill station of Meghalaya. Shillong is witnessing cold mornings, while days are sunny. Minimum temperature will settle between 5°C and 6°C and maximum temperature will record close to17°C.

Meanwhile, the grand parade in New Delhi, representing every part of the country, commences from Raisina Hill in the neighborhood of the majestic Rashtrapati Bhawan and passes along the Rajpath, ending at India Gate.

This year, US President Barack Obama will be the chief guest for the occasion.
