In a span of 24 hours; Ramagundam recorded rains to the tune of 11 mm, Kalingapatnam 3 mm, Vijayawada 2 mm and Nizamabad 2 mm.
At present, there is no major weather system over and around Telangana as well as Andhra Pradesh. In fact, the axis of monsoon trough is also passing through Chhattisgarh and Odisha.
Consequently, rains are anticipated to decrease more over both the stated states. However, light rains will still be seen over North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, else the weather over remaining chunk of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will continue to be generally dry, with one or two short spells of rains.
Weatherman expects the rains to pick up pace over both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh around July 6. Until then, Monsoon will remain subdued over both.
The reason for the intensification in rains would be the formation of a cyclonic circulation over west central Bay of Bengal off Andhra Pradesh Coast which is most expected to move inward.
Division-wise; Telangana has witnessed excess rains of 31% and Coastal Andhra Pradesh 11%. Only Rayalaseema, which remained nearly dry lay behind with rain deficiency of 3%.
