WD likely to shift over Jammu and Kashmir; more rain expected in northwest plains

The Western Disturbance over north Pakistan and adjoining areas of Jammu and Kashmir will reach the state during the next 24 hours. The weather system would continue to bring snow in the higher reaches and rain in the plains during the next two days.

According to the latest weather update by Skymet Meteorology Division in India, the Western Disturbance will be working in tandem with the cyclonic circulation over Rajasthan. Rain would occur over some places in Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and west Uttar Pradesh during the next 24 hours as both of these weather systems would be moving in northeast direction. Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand will also observe precipitation due the weather systems during the next two days.

Day temperatures in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana in North India remained below normal on Thursday. According to the latest weather update by Skymet Meteorology Division in India, clouds would prevail in the region for the next 24 to 48 hours, so a significant rise in day temperatures is not expected however, maximums would rise marginally during the next two days to record close to normal or a little above it. Srinagar, Jammu, Chandigarh, Amritsar and Jaipur are witnessing below normal maximums for the last two days.

In East India, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal are now observing above maximum temperatures above 35°C. There is no cloud expected due to which temperatures will maintain between 35 and 40°C. Interiors of Odisha and Chhattisgarh in eastcentral India are witnessing temperatures in the late thirties, and with very little change expected in the weather during the next two days, some places might register 40 plus temperature. Some showers are expected in sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim while isolated places in northeast region would observe rain during this period.

Weather in South India will remain hot and dry with temperatures settling in the late thirties in the interiors and in the early thirties in the coastal region. According to the latest weather update, some rain may take place in southern peninsula early next week.
