On its third consecutive day, the city of Ahmedabad continued to receive incessant Monsoon rains. Today morning areas such as Akhbarnagar saw huge traffic jam as the underpass in the area was completely water logged.
Same was the case with the underpass at Kubernanagar. The entire underpass was blocked due to water logging. The north and southern parts of the city, along the Kharicut canal, the continuous rains since Tuesday night has caused water logging in these regions.
Reports from Prahladnagar, Jodhpurgam and Anandnagar have come in that roof of buildings have collapsed. These regions of the city are known for their traffic sensitivity and heavy rains have aggravated the traffic jams during peak office hours.
The ongoing metro-rail construction work and a small water logged stretch have even clogged the Sabarmati -Acher stretch. The traffic moved extremely slowly on this stretch today morning.
For the month of August, the city of Ahmedabad is still rain deficient by 40%. Ahmedabad has received heavy spells of 52 mm in the span of 6 hours, from 08:30 AM in the morning till 02:30 PM.
