For the last couple of days, temperatures across the northern plains have been settling near normal. All thanks to the moderate northwesterly winds blowing over the region.
But now, weather is now likely to change its course, with mercury all set to increase. According to Skymet Weather, the cold winds blowing straight away from snow-clad Himalayas are now being replaced by relatively warmer winds.
Moreover, presence of anti-cyclone over Rajasthan and adjoining areas will curb the speed of these moderate winds after the next 24 hours. Since last of 48 hours, moderate winds have been blowing across the plains, leading to dusty conditions
In wake of this, both the maximum and minimum temperatures will increase gradually across Punjab, Haryana, Delhi-NCR and Rajasthan. Initially, the rise in mercury will be of one or two degrees.
Thereafter, there will be significant rise and day maximums may surpass the 30-degree mark. This will be on account of an approaching Western Disturbance.
With these above normal temperatures, we can expect summer-like conditions over the plains including the national capital.
February has been relatively warmer as compared to the last few years. Weather has remained mainly dry with bright sunshine, resulting in above normal temperatures during the maximum number of days.
