For the past few days, parts of East India including Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal have been observing slightly warmer weather conditions. Though the region has been witnessing foggy mornings, the temperatures have remained on the higher side.
The last Western Disturbance has moved away after giving widespread rain and snow over the hills of North India. After the departure of the system, it was expected that the northerly winds will bring down the temperatures significantly over East India.
During this period, the temperatures dropped down by a notch due to the flow of cold and dry northerly winds over Bihar, West Bengal and Jharkhand. However, the drop in temperatures was only marginal. The temperatures continue to be on the higher side as a significant decline could not occur.
Even now all the three states including Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal continue to record temperatures 4 to 6 degrees above the normal range. Now, another weak Western Disturbance is disturbing the flow of cold winds over the plains including East India. Thus, temperatures will continue to be on the higher side.
After the departure of this system, a strong Western Disturbance will affect the hills of North India January 14 onward. Thus, the region will continue to witness a warm winter for at least another week. But, the trend of foggy mornings will continue to be observed in several parts of East India on several occasions.
